Back to the office, temperatures dropping and days getting shorter… No doubt about it: summer is slowly coming to an end. After spending the last few months in flip-flops, tank tops and light dresses, it’s time to gradually bring back closed shoes and mid-season clothing to our wardrobes.

And among the first items to be brought back into service, jackets obviously occupy a prime spot. From September onwards, those we had abandoned at the back of the closet start to cover us again. And to make this return to reality a little less painful, what could be better than treating yourself to a new one?

To choose the right one, a quick look  at the autumn-winter trends  is essential. Beyond the ever-present trench coat, the perfecto jacket, or the classic denim jacket, a few models are particularly standing out this season.

The bomber

Never truly outdated,  the bomber jacket  has gradually become a timeless wardrobe staple. Capable of instantly elevating any look, it’s back again this fall to keep us covered. In nylon or leather, cropped or oversized, it pairs perfectly with a pencil skirt, Bermuda shorts, or rolled-up jeans. In short, it’s hard to go wrong with it. 

The tweed jacket

Sometimes considered too classic, sometimes a bit old-fashioned, the tweed jacket has had its ups and downs in recent years. But this season, it’s undeniably making a comeback. Gone, however, is the overly prim look: it’s being modernized with more generous proportions, blazer-style cuts, oversized patch pockets, and even coat-like lengths. Enough to definitively shed its bourgeois image. 

The sports jacket

After the track shorts that were everywhere this summer, autumn promises to continue in the same vein. Sportswear is venturing out of the gym more than ever, and in terms of jackets, this translates into the return to favor of the track jacket.

On the catwalk and on the street, it now readily departs from its original style, paired with a midi skirt, a slip dress, or even pleated trousers. It’s the perfect piece to embrace the ”  wrong jacket theory  ,” a stylistic trick that involves creating contrast in an outfit by adding a jacket from a completely different world. The more unlikely the combination seems on paper, the better it works.

The leather aviator jacket

Already a staple of last year’s trends,  the bomber jacket  is here to stay. With its retro, slightly masculine, and almost cinematic look, it’s often enough to add character to even the simplest outfits.

As soon as the first cool days arrive, we slip it on with jeans, a mini-skirt, or a light dress to extend summer a little longer. This season, we prefer it in slightly distressed leather (or faux leather), with a relaxed fit and details borrowed from authentic pilot jackets. A way to embrace its vintage side right down to the sleeves.
